It’s a hectic time of year, before Christmas and what could be better than taking a loved one away from it all, on a surprise weekend break.
Throw in some Champagne and they’ll love you forever…or at least until next year!

The refurbishment of London’s St. Pancras Station has restored one of the country’s most impressive buildings and added a glamorous start to any intercontinental adventure. The 315 foot Champagne bar will put you in the perfect mood for a romantic trip offering 40 varieties to choose from, plus canapes, sandwiches and a champagne breakfast - go on you only live once!

Romantic destinations on the continent include:

Paris - where you can glide across the Hotel de Ville’s ice rink for free and stroll the Champs Elysees witnessing the shimmering fir trees.

Lille - which offers spicy mulled wine and hot chestnuts at the Place Rihour’s illuminated Christmas market and is perfect for gift shopping or simply hibernating in the city’s cosy cafes.

Brussels - where the Christmas markets are aglow with lights, trees and stalls piled high with gingerbread and Belgian chocolate - definitely one for the sweet tooth’s!

All destinations are, at maximum, just over 2 hours journey time and there’s some good deals available.

So with a little work you can make someone very happy - which is what it’s all about.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have flown to Malta today to recall the happy memories they shared there 60 years ago, when first married.

To celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary, a formal thanksgiving service was held at Westminster Abbey yesterday attended by more than 30 family members, including prime ministers past and present.
Among the 2000 people invited were also 10 other couples who shared their 60th Wedding Anniversary on that day.

Dame Judy Dench read ‘Diamond wedding’, a poem commissioned by the poet laureate Andrew Motion, especially for the occasion and there was a procession of representatives from different religions including the Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu and Sikh faiths.

The Queen is the first British Monarch to reach a Diamond Wedding Anniversary and we wish them both many more happy years together.

For those looking to celebrate their 5th Wedding Anniversary, or even searching for a unique gift to treasure… we’ve added a range of Hand Crafted Wood Anniversary Gifts to our site.

The pieces consist of a Heart Shaped Chopping board, cut from a single block of Sycamore, an Oak paperweight and a Tea light made from the same material.

All the gifts are beautifully carved and very tactile.
Sycamore is the ideal wood to use with food and the surface of the chopping boards can be ’sealed’ first by applying Olive Oil or any good Vegetable oil - then washed and dried as normal afterwards.
The darker, more lined, characteristics of Oak make for a more introspective and symbolic Wood Wedding Anniversary Gift and the heavier form is ideal as a tea light and paperweight.

All these products are sourced and created locally in Wales, by a family business that can also offer personalisation and we’re very proud to have their lovely gifts on board.

Ever curious what billionaires buy their wives? Well heres a gift that tops it all…

Mukesh Ambani, Indian’s richest man, recently raised the bar for buying gifts for a partner, by presenting his wife, Neeta, with an Airbus plane, worth $60 millon on her 44th birthday.
The luxury jet is custom-fitted with an office and a cabin with games consoles, music systems, satellite television and wireless communication. In addition to a master bedroom, it has entertainment cabins, a sky bar and fancy showers.

It seems the only thing missing is John Travolta as the pilot.

We wish Neeta a happy birthday and wait with baited breath to see how he can top that next year.
